How Estate Planning Can Help You Distribute Your Assets
Estate planning is the process of anticipating and disposing of the assets of your estate in the way in which you would like to have that done. Estate planning helps the person whose estate is being planned to decide how it is that any assets that they own are going to be distributed to whomever it is they would like to have them distributed, as opposed to allowing someone else like the state to decide where those assets go. A will is an instrument that can allow a person to decide who receives what assets at the time of that person’s demise. It can be very complex or it can be very simple depending on a variety of factors including: what’s in the estate, how many heirs there are, who the heirs are, and how the person wants to distribute the assets of their estate.
